The Proposal... {Everything within this thread is subsequent to change if need-be} A complete map of Azeroth (Warcraft) featuring over 50 regions (propably more around 70), 7 completely new "Races" spanning 8 Factions. This will feature a grand campaign and new custom battle maps, as well as hotseat gameplay. The timescale for the Grand Campaign is yet to be decided, and your input is certainly appreciated. Races List... Fullscale: Orc Human Night Elf Undead Blood Elf Dwarves Burning Legion [NPC] Smallscale (1-4 Units): Bandits [Merc/Rebel] Tauren [Orc] Centaur [Merc/Rebel] Troll [Orc] Draenai [Night Elf] Gnomes [Dwarves] Murloc [Merc/Rebel Naga [Merc/Rebel] Chaos Orc [Burning Legion/Rebel] Goblins [Steamwheedle Cartel] Factions List... The Alliance: Humans The Alliance: Night Elves The Alliance: Dwarves The Horde: Orcs The Horde: Forsaken The Horde: Blood Elves The Scourge (?) Steamwheedle Cartel The Burning Legion Now what may happen is the broad factions listed now may be broken up into smaller more specific factions, for example... The Alliance: Humans may become Humans: Gilneas, Humans: Stormwind, Humans: Lordaeron, etc. This is most likely to happen if a second campaign is made highlighting a specific region. My goal is to get together people from both the Medieval II: Total War modding community and the Warcraft 3 modding community and have them working together on this project. I need help mostly in Skinning, Modeling, Artwork, and I certainly will need help in the later stages with technical whatnot and coding as I have done little modding myself in Total War. I am going to begin work on this project immediatly, doing as much as is possible for me to do alone. If you are interested in this, want to see something I've done in the past, or wether you simply want to ask a question or you wish to help... Please don't be afraid to reply or PM me. |

1: Wrong forum. You probably want Map development or Project Recruitment. 2: This looks insanely epic... but also one of those "High expectations with no results" projects... Like 98% of all WoW -> Wc3 conversion maps. 3: I wish you all the luck. This DOES look seriously epic, and seeing it in MTW:II would kick ass. |

As long as the modelling and texturing gets done, it will get done. |

Moved to project recruitment. |

i've got a felling this wont get done |

Well as I said, the more help the quicker it will get done... But none the less it will be done eventually, so long as people would be willing to play it. |

I don't see what use you would have for WC3 moders if this is a M:TW mod, but whatever, I'll allow it. |

Making models and textures bears little to no difference between Medieval 2 and Warcraft 3, also I'm hoping to get players from both communities interested in blending the two. |

I think both warcaft and totalwar are awsome but i hope you realise that this mod is in direct violation of copyright laws so if either Creative Assembly or Blizzard finds out about it and they probaly will, you will be forced to stop. It's a shame really cause this mod sounds cool, same happend to alote of other projects like a lotr totalwar mod. |

Actually yeah, this does sound like a copyright violation... Which kind of sucks... but then again, who really cares? |

Hopefully Blizzard and Sega [Respectively] are as kind as they are good and making/producing games. But if not, then the work done on this would certainly been modified [slightly] and made into a new mod. |

Well considering we've broken the EULA and copyright laws and shit all the time here with our more advanced tools and stuff, and nobody has been attacked, I doubt it'll be a huge deal. But still, just don't try to commercialize it and you should be ok. |

Due to lack of support atm, I'm going to convert this from my original plan into a much more realistic idea. I am going to recreate the Second War [Warcraft 2] between the Orcs and Humans using the Total War engine. This will entail having only 2 full scale races, and about 5 small scale races. I will though center on Warcraft 2's various factions instead of races in general, meaning there will be deep stories and goals behind each faction and I will be making them as unique as possible when it comes to play styles. |

Quote:
Breaking WC3's copyright protection to mod WC3 is highly unlikely to cause a problem. However, using WC3's IP in M2:TW in terms of a full on mod of this kind is more likely to be issue. It tends to depend on the company holding the IP, and their projects at the time. For example, LucasArts tend to be bastards about it, and if you, say, try to make a full on RTS mod using someone's IP while they are making an RTS based on that IP, it's likely to be shut down (eg: Halo in C&C Generals while Halo Wars is in production). So be aware that you risk being shut down, with no recourse, and all your work going down the drain. |

So is this mod effectively going to be played on MTW2 or on Wc3? |
