Hey community! I have been thinking about this idea for quite a while but I can't work on it because I already have 2 other projects going. I am offering this as a hope that someone else will want to either help me or will take it over themselves. Warcraft 3 Style Billiards
Basically it is a the Warcraft 3 equivalent of a classic billiards game. 1) It will be your original 8-ball billiards with most of the rules. - Winning is done the same way, with the except that if you get the 8 ball in early you will just lose your hero for a set number of rounds or will lose most of your mana and health (explained later) - Balls cannot leave the table so there are no fouls except getting the cue ball in a pocket. - For those that know most of the advanced rules, none will be used. Only basic rules of 8-ball that nearly everyone knows will be used. 2) This is Warcraft 3 which means this will not be a normal game of 8-ball! - There will be heroes which you can control to mess with your opponent(s) and help your self. - This means that each specific hero will have his own set of spells. At first glance I would only want a small amount of heroes each with a rather large spell set (maybe 5 - 7). I want each hero to have many neat things to do, not all being a simple ball pusher or something. 3) Modes, modes, and more modes! - My first thought was just a simple 1v1 but this can become so much more. So I was thinking a variety of player number variations as different modes. Including 2v2, 3v3, and possibly a free for all. - I would also like to include special modes such as tournament with many teams or individuals playing in games leading to the final match to declare a total winner. - Also special modes changing the gameplay to either turn based or real time for some true action! 4) Interesting spells and effects - One of the funnest parts of this map would be the spells. My vision is of some nice speed changing and path altering spells. - Examples: a) Gravity at a point causing balls to tend to move to it. b) A wall to block balls (no allowed a certain distance from a pocket). c) Explosives at a point to push balls away. d) A sort of mirror image but only for balls where the next ball that the cue ball hits turns into 2 balls (one fake, one real). e) A slow down trap to hamper your enemy's ability to get somewhere. f) A speed up point to really get your balls flying! - These are only some examples, with enough creativity any number of interesting ideas can be made. Hopefully I haven't bored you with all this talk of balls! But for those of you that want to take this idea and change it, go right ahead. I am putting this out there for anyone who wants to make this map. If you want help I can do a little bit but I don't wanna another full project to do so I'm giving this to the community! -Thats it thank you for reading, and good luck to those that want this! |

Also, elemental balls. This sounds cool. Go for it! |

Hmm, elemental balls would be cool, maybe hitting your opponent with ice could stun them for one turn or something. Interesting. I can't start this project bymyself but if you want I could help you. I'm just overtaxed as it is. Two projects and grade 12 to pass before university! |

I made someone a set of billiard balls a while ago. They don't have rolling animations though. Also, someone else made some balls and maybe those are animated. Check out this thread for the stuff: http://www.wc3campaigns.net/showthre...light=billiard |

Thanks FLUFF! Well there it is people all the hard work is done, for those that want the materials. Everything someone needs to start this!: Pool Cue made by Xlightscreen Billiard balls made by richie_lich Billiards.zip By FLUFF Billiards Balls.rar Apparently by richie_lich, hold tilesets and the table field it self. Not sure myself how to extract and use etc. billiards.w3x My suggestion would to not use a cue, it might look a little out of place if you make it too small or too big. I would use an arrow to aim and a bar to display strength. |
