At the time I though up the idea, I thought I could make very fun gameplay. I set up a test. People though the idea was good, but I was doing it TERRIBLY. I gave up, seeing I couldnt really do it right, even if it WOULD be fun. Do you think this is a good map idea, and I should try again? My opinion is that I wouldnt do any better the second time. However, if anyone thinks this is a good idea, go ahead and use it... |

I'm not going to vote (yet?) but it sounds fine although its gonna end up being about raiding. either that or lots of towers. are u using normal units? |

It could be cool, but it really depends on execution. If you play your cards right, it would end up a really fun map. If you don't, however, it could end up just another good idea gone bad. Good luck if you pick it back up, though! |

I saw this back when you origianaly posted it, it sounded great to me! I imagined a kind of game where you would constantly be raiding, get raided, sending out 'gold hunting parties" and eventualy getting kodo transports or the like. Very interesting, and it sound great. But of course, it all comes down to execution. Even if the idea is god like, if you make your pet cat make the map, its probably not going to be very good. |

I guess Ill take another attempt at it, in a differnt way. @Nuclear Arbitor: Depends. I was originally going to make new units, But I suck at balancing and from testing it, I think it would be better with MOSTLY normal units, allthough some of them might need changing, Ill have to see. |

Maybe make it more based on groups of gold-miners, rather than a steady stream of miners. Maybe have gold carts that peasants bring gold to, which can hold much more than a single peasant. So you have to make the journey over there, fill up the cart, and make the journey back - not try to constantly defend a whole line of peasants. I'm not quite sure how to promote this gameplay though in a way that will work. Maybe the gold carts and some kind of transports like Gorman suggested would be enough. Quote:
If you have nothing to say, don't make a whole new post about it :). |

lol he did say something, but not enough. i did something like this with my brother a while back, it was a randomly generated map where u started with some peasants and a racial "donkey", it acted as a drop point and u had to clear space and get enough stuff to build a base, and it then progressed pretty much like a normal game. actually pretty dam fun. needed new ai though |

Maybe encourage everyone to be nomadic, have the major drop off points around the map (in the form of towns) and you have to buy better carriers, or get raiders, you could build defenses for the gold mines etc. The map shouldnt be thaaat big, just maybe 256x256 will be plenty, maybe even smaller. |
