Newbie herassment, and making fun of homosexuals

Myself I dont mind at all the usage of "gay" where "queer" (any definition other than homosexual) fits, anyone who is insulted is either WAY too senstive or a grammar nazi.

Insulting newbies is extremely uncool, they cant help being new. Everyone was a newbie once, not everyone was a n00b once.

Most of the time when people call people Noobs, they mean with it that this wasn't their first mistake. I still call it unfair though...

1337 means Leet or Elite. A sort of internet language. It means that the one who is '1337' is VERY good (elite). Mostly used to brag with.

n00b is just people getting lazy and not wanting to type the full word newbie. In starcraft era is was newb. Just like leet and 1337 are people getting lazy and not wanting to write out elite. Just like pwn is some people being really bad at typing and continually missing the 'o' key and hitting the 'p' key instead and then thinking that that was cool. Just like people type sux because they are to lazy to type sucks. Just like people turn entire sentences into acronyms and expect people to understand them (sad thing is, that was in a wardraft game and someone actually understood them...) it was something like good game no rematch bye now (ggnrmbn)... pretty sure that wasn't it and I think it was longer then that.

IMHO I think that this thread is quite important and perhaps should be stickied here. Even though we know it is in the wrong part of the forum, it is the most important here.

BTW yoda_24, is it really true? 0_o I can't believe someone can understand such things. Personally I cut many words short (in dutch) but most of the time they are still understandeble. But just with 'ggnrmbn' (or something like that) is VERY hard to understand.

Ugh. I disagree; we've all gotten a chance to say, "You're right, n00b is bad, we shouldn't call people n00b anymore." Now that we all feel good about ourselves, give the thread a rest, will ya?

I am no hippy. I throw insults like the best of them. However, I'd rather not read something I'd expect from a school yard exchange, when I want to learn something warcraft III related.

You're also quite swift; you were that one happy idiot that I was expecting. The one who didn't read the thread and realize that everyone was supporting my idea. Instead you probably in your haste and forgetting your TL:DR, just had to send out a quick little flame, completly disregarding that A) I'm a Super-moderator (I'm the guy who'd move or delete this and I shan't do either), B) Your acting completely like the behavior that this thread is condemning and C) You are the minority in your opinion.

Yes very true. I met my first true foe there. TheGreatNoob.(lol what a name). His stupid vison got me all worked up...all the(hate to say this) but N00B yells.

So i decieded to make my own...Cinematic. The trailer was just realeased to today, and its gotten good reviews so far. Im just waitng for that first Yell. While the last post is about map development SORTA (more like advertisment), it doesn't really have much to do with the development of a map ...

IMHO N00b can be used both good and bad. For example, if someon esays, "Im sorry, Im new" in a question, its fine to say "when I was a n00b like you, I was thinking the samething" or the such, but dont go up to someone asking a question and say "1 pwn0rz j00 n00b". Also, if a newbie is being a jackass, for a lack of a better word, such as flaming, not seeking advice, not following advide, repeatidly, etc. than im fine by it. For example. someone attempts to help a newbie, and they say:

n00b: Who do I do xx?
Respond: You do it by doing yy than zz.
n00b: STFU you moron. why dont you go shove your head up your *** ans die- it doesnt work, n00b (I acually saw this in a thread, lol)
Responder2: Yes it does work.
n00b: **** you n00b it doesnt
Responder3: WTF is wrong with you
n00b: **** off and someone help me damn n00bs

Than by all means flame away. 1337 5p34k is fine in small quanitys, normally jokingly such as

1 PWN0RZ J00 !!1111one11!1!one!!11!!eleven!! (j/k)

personally its piss me off when an idiot dont stop calling u noob and say owned! or pawned! each time u get killed, and there is way too much morons on battle net that act like that
