EXTENSION

Well, because everyone seems to be winding down and finally just now getting the time to work on entries, the contest will be getting extended by one week, until May 12, 2008 11:59PM GMT-5. Hopefully we'll be seeing some more entries now that this extension is here! I'll probably be harassing all of the entrants to ensure they are actually doing their entries. All other rules still apply.

I am confused, does this mean there are 38 hours left?

Today is the eleventh of may. tomorrow is (now that it's 9:00 GMT-5) it is
24-9 = 15
24+15 = 39.

So yea, 38 hours and 59 minutes, Vex =P

But that means the extension was one of eight days, not seven...

Before it was meant to end on the May 5th (24:00 [Midnight] GMT-5); so the extension was 1 min short of 7 days.

May 5th Midnight / 24:00 / 0:00 mean "the moment May 4th ends" doesn't it?

I would read it as the moment may 5th ends. I think the reason the new deadline was set at 11:59 was to avoid the potential for this confusion.

Yes, I made it 11:59 to avoid the confusion. I was going to end it at 12:00, midnight on the 5th, which I realized afterward might confuse people to think that they had a day less than they actually did. Hence when I added the extension, I made it 11:59PM to avoid such confusion.

Presently there are... 36 hours remaining.

So just to confirm, it is not when May 4th ends but rather just before May 5th ends?
