I was wondering if it is remotely possible to to use for example this: http://www.wc3campaigns.net/showthread.php?t=80117 skin as under a hero. What I want to create is a hero with this skin, or is it only possible to use this skin to the ogre path? Regards |

Do I just need to pick the Path of the hero that I would want the skin to attach to and that paste that into the custom path in the import editor? |

Do you want to use the skinned ogre as a hero or do you have a custom model that you want to use it or..? |

He wants to use the texture on another model. No, its not possible to just use a texture for a model it wasnt made for. Textures are model specific. |

Well you can... Remap Textures in War3Viewer... But it just doesn't work, trust me. :P |

You could attach a hero glow to the ogre, if that´s what you mean. |

Stop telling this kid "but if this" or "but if that" without any further explanation. He clearly has no idea how texture maps work, so just settle for a clear awnser that he can understand. Wich is that it cant be done by changing the filepath. |

*cough* even older, I feel so old now ^^, I never did devote allot of time in custom things in wow, but I got the picture. The skins are bound to a certain unit path, and it's not advised to use them on other paths. |

I'll just explain how it works. Basically, a texture is model data. Diffrent parts of the texture file get projected onto designated parts of the model file. Every model has a diffrent shape, and therefore the texture file is arranged diffrently. If you where to put a texture that doesnt belong to a certain model on that model, the model would project the same parts of the texture as it would if it would still have the original texture. A part that normally has, for example, a leg on it, could have an arm in that same location in another texture. It would then project the arm bit onto the legs of the model... I am aware that this may not be the clearest explanation, but its all i've got :P |

I wish somebody had told me that a long time ago... :P |
