So I hear all the time about how people make custom icons for their custom models just by taking a screenshot, or something like that. I'd really like to figure out how to do that. But even cropping a screenshot in, say, Magos, doesn't seem to work; something about the pixellation or image quality seems different when other people do it. Any help? Do I need any art programs, like Photoshop, or will Paint/Photosuite suffice? Etc. |

ok, if you just want to make icons from screenshots, no fancy-pants things, then yes, I'd say capture your image in whatever program you want would work. Try get it around 256*256 size first, then shrink it to 64*64 and sharpen it, then run it through a program like this one |

Eh, wot-wot? I most certainly requiah the fanciest of pantaloons in my icon-making endeavouhs. :P Chee-rio, Mary Poppins, tea and biscuits an' awl that. ... So it's that simple? Hmmm... Not to sound n00bish, but I'm not sure I have the right program for resizing. Is is just "Image - Resize", or "Image - Canvas Size" or something? |

yarp, thats it. Go Image - resize, or Image Size if you have Photoshop. Try to think of it like photography - try capture the subject as expressively as you can within the frame :) |

All programs aside paint should do a fine job of resizing an image properly. If you do not want to "buy" Photoshop then I suggest that you download paint.net (google it), it's a free and decent program, easy to use and loads super fast. |

Dangit, everything seems to require a download nowadays... //Alrighty, I got Photosuite, and it's got "Image - Resize". So I am in bid-ness! :P Thanks all (both). +Rep. |
