Hi, firstly i wanna say what i'm trying to do. i'm trying to make an animation for jaina's death scene. it involves jaina being covered by ice then breaking down from top and stuff like that so if anyone knows a easy way to do it plz tell me if not can anyone give me the normal jaina's model in Gmax? ty |

This link. In the Modeling Tools section there is "Import/Export MDX v2" that should do the trick, but I fear that the importing phase will screw up the existing animations. (so you'll have to copy/paste the normal ones with notepad after you've finished animating) See this post if you have problems using it. However, I'd suggest you to try some other program for animating... |

Use Warcraft 3 Viewer or Magos' Model Editor to extract Jaina's mdx model from the "War3.mpq" file. |

I have the colored 2D model but is there a way to get the 3D model? this is the tutorial i'm following for making the model for starters then i'm going to try and add the animation to it. http://world-editor-tutorials.thehelper.net/unwrap.php OK NVM hehe. i got it. i got the jaina's mdx now i have to use the export/importer right? but the thing is i can't find an instruction about importing or idk how to open the mdx file in gmax. btw i'm starting with 3D studio Max so i was hoping if we could forget about gmax and go with 3D studio Max. the two programs look pretty much the same so know i don't have to start from zero. |

there are no 2d models, those are sprites and can not be turned into models at this point. if it's a script (comes with a .ms file) then go to MAXscript>run script or the hammer tab on the right. if it's not a script then go to file>export and change the file type to what you want. importing is file>import, make sure it's set to show the file you want, all is very easy if there isn't a lot of other junk, and click it. |

sry for being a noob. but firsly I haven't made anything to want to export it. I still can't get the jaina.mdx into my Gmax or 3D Max to begin with. the script thing when i click on "run script" it opens a box like the one in the tutorial but it's empty (ofc cuz i think its an exporter and i don't have anything to export) also for importing i don't seem to be able to import .mdx file or either .mdl files in to Gmax or 3D max |

importing into gmax goes this way: Dl the importer script by ProFet and install it into the right folder Start up Gmax Click on "Run Script" and select it Convert the Jaine.mdx into Jaina.mdl Search the jaina.mdl with the script and import it... |

Woot thx alot. ok i got the importer and the script works fine. just the problem is that i get an error "Call needs function or class, got : Undefined" also one of the steps in the read me for installing the script was : 2- Change the textures path in the "BlizzImporter\formats\mdl.ini" file. it says change it but idk change it to what. would really appreciate ur help Oh btw it kinda didn't work with Gmax but worked with Autodesk 3Ds max but i guess that's not a problem here :D |
