while I was editing my map, I saved my map with JNGP 5d, and when it reached to the part where jasshelper checks my scripts, a black out suddenly occur which automatically turned off my pc (no UPS T_T). now that the line is back, I tried to open my map, but sadly, JNGP cannot open the map anymore, I looked inside JNGP back-up folder and opened the first and last maps I found, but it isn't the map I am working before, can someone help me restoring my map? I worked for about 5 months on that map already and I don't want to lose it. The error said: -Main map file cannot be opened. |

And that is why I back up map files by save-as-ing with a different number tacked on the end each time i save a map. (eg: MyMapName v1.0 234) As for recovering your work in the event you didn't back up a whole lot: (Let that be a lesson to you, by the way.) open the map with an MPQ editor create a new, blank map take one file out of the old map, put it in the new one with the MPQ editor, try to open the map. If it works, do the next file. then the next... etc... etc... Also, check your Maps/Test/ folder for a WorldEditorTestMap.w3x, if your map was the last one you tested in the editor. |

You shoud know about AUTOMATED New Gen We Back Up it back up last 36 maps every time you save one, also there is file to keep maps order, check it to get order, this will help, soo you dont need to check every map. Every time backup is made, it given name (one char) from start of list, and taken char place at end of list. |

As long as you saved your map sometime in the last 36 times you saved, it has to be there. Compare the filesize of the NewGen backup maps to the corrupted one, then open the most recent one that matches (most recent based on the date modified, not on the filename). Whatever you do, don't save any new maps until you get your old one restored. |

First save at 9-12-09 - replacing more like 20 triggers inside the "Research" category with 5 triggers. Second save at 9-13-09 - replacing a whole lot of triggers in my map into a compact and clean system, and it was this day that the blackout occurred. I found an identical file size with my corrupted map, and when I tried to open it, it is also corrupted. I opened each and every map, and found nothing identical to my last save or even identical to the first save. |
