Error when trying to play TSOF on LAN

I have been working on this map called The Shadow of Falconreach, but suddenly when I tried to play the latest version on LAN I got the error "Map file too big". This isn't happening when I play it on singleplayer (Not yet, anyways), but it would still be nice if it would be playable on multiplayer. (I don't know if Battle.net has any file restrictions as I can't go online, probably because that I don't have TFT.)

The biggest problem with this is that the map is barely 20-30% complete (if even that), so I don't really know what to do. Split it up and use game caches maybe?

It's about 12,1 MB.
I don't have any custom models in it, btw.

wow, 12 MB

Since Patch 1.24b the max map file size was increased from 4 to 8 MB.

I dont even know how you got beyond the 8 MB limit, or was it expanded another time already?

I was under the impression that the map size limit wasn't enforced over LAN... Apparently not.

Anyway, 12MB is small fry for singleplayer, so I say abandon the multiplayer and go mental (but of course I would say that).

To be honest, I didn't know anything about a limit (exept for the maximum capacity of my computer) before I tried this version of the map on LAN.

With "a small fry", do you mean "that's nothing to worry about, carry on" or "you're gonna mess up your game client"? (considering the file could end up three times bigger or so, I haven't even started making quests yet and most areas are not there or is unfinished).

By small fry, he means that 12mb is not very big for a singleplayer map.

I don't know either.

EDIT:
Googled it, all I found was talk about importing Naruto models. It doesn't really seem like that's what he's talking about.

EDIT 2:
Just trolling perhaps, considering this is the internet? No offense.

I mean "that's nothing to worry about". My biggest is 28MB, and that is by no means large for the genre. I'm sure I've seen a 90MB individual map, and many campaigns run comfortably into the hundreds. I don't think there is an upper limit for singleplayer, or if there is, nobody's managed to reach it yet.

If you want multiplayer, then you are going to have to make some sacrifices. As MasterOfSickness said, 8 MB is the limit. You can't split it up and use gamecaches because: (1) gamecaches don't store on your disk in multiplayer (2) if you were to go to another level, then the map would load on each client separately (so you'd end up in the map, but each person would be alone).

Luckily, there are a lot of ways to reduce map file size. First off: cut down on imports. Since you say it is 12 MB without custom models, I'm guessing you're using a lot of sound files. Convert them to MP3 with a sound editor (Audacity) and save it with a reduced bit rate. This should shed off a decent chunk of the file size. Of course, it reduces in quality, but it isn't always that noticeable.

For models, there is Guesst's MDX Squisher.
For textures, there is BLP Lab.
For maps in general, there is Wc3mapoptimizer.

Actually, I only have one music file imported, nothing else. Tho it may be because of the number of doodads I use (At least over 5000 last I checked) and the map size is 224x160.

So if I were able to remove the map size limit... I could technically have more content than I could ever dream of?
Aaaanyways, I should probably finish what I've started before expanding it too much.

ever hurge map wont hit 8mb limit as long as you:

1) Not imported stupid naruto models
2) Not imported your favorite (and still stupid) music
3) Not spammed zillion decorations for no reason

Pretty sure the map has nothing to do with naruto, bro.
