This is going to sound so newbieish..... How do I set an ability icon for a certian spell so that it doesn't show up on the command bar? Setting it to none gets me that fat guy's face. |

you mean BRoper?? |

actually it isn't that newbish because as far as i know, this isn't even possible. the best thing you can do is give it an all black icon with nothing there in a spot that most people don't point(don't ask me where no one points cuz i have no clue at all) but even with that there will still be a tool tip spot. so ****. i don't know what to tell you. just that this question has been answered before. |

Perhapes I can take a screenshot and import a picture of an empty command slot. It will look like nothing's there. |

you could do that but as i said before it will still have the tool tip. and as long as there is a tooltip anyone moving thier mouse over it will know somehing is there and try to click it. |

What sort of spell is this? It's possible to base a hero/unit ability off an item ability (such as item HP boost, attack speed, damage, life steal, armour, etc etc, almost any item ability that doesn't involve clicking on the icon). If your making a hero skill, you can still see & click on the icon to learn it which is really great, especially if your using the skill as a dummy skill. |

yes thats possible, choose the ability you want as Hero ability in Unit Editor, Example ( Heal) Klick on Humans>Spells/Heal Set Item ability NO Set Hero Ability YES Now copy and Paste the complet spell. Now the ability you copied is a Hero ability where you can change the Lvl ect. ect. PS Astrahl make a unit immune to physical damage but not to magic damage |

My point was an unit/hero ability based off an item ability DOES NOT show an icon, the icon simply isn't there because those item abilities are not intended to be actively used or "seen". Item Abilities that turn into unit abilities WITH icons are: Any you click to use (staff of silence, healing salve, mana potion, etc etc) Any based off unit ability passives w/ icons (crit strike, bash). If it doesn't fit into one of those categories, it is probably iconless. Theres also a few iconless unit abilities, like pheonix fire, none others come to mind (that you would actually want to turn into a unit/hero ability) but no doubt they exist. |

hm have you tested this before. because i believe that once you make it into a abilty it will get that dumb guy's face on the postion of your skill and say tool tip missing. but maybe your idea would work. test it someone? |
| 10-28-2003, 09:05 AM | #12 |
I've already tested it :P It works, turn an ability, oh, lets say "Item life regeneration" into a hero ability, try as you might, you'll never get an icon to appear in the command bar. The icon will however appear in research, so you should set the research icon to whatever you want. (if you dont, you will get the stupid icon thing) |

so what version of WE are you running? About 80% of the item abilitys have icons when you use them as seperate abilitys, i have proof of this because one of my favorite spells is to turn the Healing Potions, Rejuvenation Potions, Rejuvenation Scrolls and Life Regeneration Bonus's into player spells, only a few passive item abilitys dont show an icon. |

Re-read my post and you'll see thats exactly what I said. But think about it, if someone wants an ability with no icon, then it cannot be used actively, and will most likely be a passive or dummy ability, makes sense ya? |

I testet again, "Item: Life Regeneration" i set it to Hero ability, copied it and then i could change the icons ,lvls, ect ect... if you only set it to hero ability whitout copying you cant edit all this things |
