I believe the maximum size for a b.net map is 4 MB... any bigger and it won't let you play it. But the real limit is: how long do you expect people to be willing to wait to play your map? You'll have to test it out to find out how long it takes to load - if it feels too long, it probably is. If it doesn't feel too long, let someone else test it out and watch with them while it loads - now, if it feels too long, it probably is. |

I'd say 1MB is the max for an all new map, if the map is already popular meaning people will be willing to sit around for ages to dl a new version & also people will be willing to host DL only games then you can probably get away with 2-3MB |

Hey hate to burst ur bubble peeps but the max size is 2 meg if u read a FAQ on maps on www.blizzard.com. You also got consider ur connection speed and others. My current map is just 150kb but is a bnet map. Dont add custom sounds it will get annoying soon after the first time u play it |

56k's should be banned from bnet :P If your on 56k, noone will let you download 3mb, srry... @Cajun Uhm, miss....15-20 mb max is NOT right. 4 MB is MAX, after that it won't let you create the game. @Hezza They might say it's 2mb, but it's not. Legacies: Tides of the Serpent is about 3.05 mb. And I dl'ed a map yesterday wich was 2.03 mb...so no. Not 2mb :) I still say 4 MAX, but try keeping it at 3.5, as a map like that is VERY heavy, even in game for good computers. My current map is at 2mb, with pleanty of skins/models/items and other stuff. Take how many skins you need in your map, then look at the size and deduct from there, don't do it the other way :) :ggani: emote_sweat 0_o :foot: |

Either that is wrong, or you read it wrong (I didn't go check it out though) The max is 4megs, anything under 4096KB is playable and downloadable. I tested this theory first hand. If it is larger than 4 megs battle.net won't 'sync' it to download to other people, they will just sit there with a ? mark for amount downloaded. However, you can play a 50 meg map if you really wanted to. All you require is that people download the map from a source other than battle.net. Just a little note, when you play a custom game, you aren't playing on battle.net everyone is connected to each other, and all battle.net does for downloading is queue up who's going to DL the map first, etc. All this info is from Bliz themselves, or from what I have experienced. |
