This is a good ability for an instant click dummy!

I am curious why it won't make a sound though, if given to a unit as a Item ability... ? I gave it to a shaman and it appears in his command menu and when I click it he does a casting animation and nothing happens.. but as an item in inventory it goes "squee-eeak" or whatever. What's up with that?

WEll, there's a Clockwork penguin item in the Orc Campaigns... It's an item you get it at one of the centaur camps(i went through and destroyed every creep and did every side quest..) so maybe that why...

Wait, you gave an item ability to a unit?
Try making it a unit ability and check it.
And the sound only appears because they put it in the "Effect Sounds" in the Spell Editor.

Imagine casting Chain Lightning and hearing pengiuns...

AFAIK theres no difference between item, unit and hero abilities in game. The ONLY difference is the data values shown in the editor, and the categories they go in.

Case in point: When you convert a multiple level hero ability to a unit ability the higher levels are still there just hidden by the editor - take Raise Dead for example, the 2nd level raises a skeleton mage too, but you can only see the 2nd level by converting it to a hero ability.

Quite often I've added item abilities to units directely and they have all worked fine, exactly as if the unit was carrying an item with the ability, except icons show up in the command bar for some abilities.
