Is there any ability be it modal or passive (Like those arrow abilites) that I can use to increase the range of a unit?

I really need an answer for this for my rpg.

Make a dummy ability, then detect when it is leared and use an upgrade that increaes the units range.

Upgrades don't work well because I need to be able to turn this off.

I don't know too much about triggers, but shouldn't it be possible with triggers and searing arrow/black arrow/etc. ?

Are you asking for a spell based off of an arrow ability that grants the shot being fired an increased range?

Make a new ability based off of Searing Arrows. Change the projectile art and set the damage bonuses to zero. Finally, go to the field labeled "cast range" and set them to the range of your hero is plus whatever you want the bonus from each skill level to be.

Shwa. No triggers involved.

I guess I was close near the answer ;) Listen to those who are more experienced in triggers :D (like people may know, I know somewhat more then the basics)
I was right in using Searing Arrow or any other like that. Oh well...

It is an intresting idea though... the same way can actually be done with an aura right? Using triggers to give them 'that' ability to increase range. Or isn't that possible?

MaliceDR have you tried this? Because my hero seems to still be capped at 600 range...Turning on and off the ability doesn't make a difference.

You need to set the acuisiton range maybe? this could possibly be the problem. Also, I think searing arrow might b3 hardcoded to max out at the units max range.

I don't know I can't get it to work. Have you actually done it?

I've heard that searing arrow is supposed to increase the PotM's range, but I don't believe it.

Anyway, the universal method is to use a meta or chaos based system to transform the unit into a long range variant. It may also be possible with a warclub type system, but I am painfully ignorant when it comes to enabling/disabling attacks.

If this is a multi-level hero ability then the meta/chaos method isn't so bad, give the long range variant the attack range upgrade so you only need one extra unit, then every level you lean increase the upgrade level.

I need to be able to remove it (its an item ability) and it needs to work on many hero types making multiple hero copies would suck.

This is an item I'm working on for DT4:A engine using RPG.

weaaddar, the answer was right under your nose, but you didn't sniff hard enough. :D Using upgrades will work, you can set the tech level of an upgrade back. (i think) I will test it really quick and verify.

Err you cant reduce the tech level of upgrades, no matter what you try.

unless you do another upgrade that does the opposite of what the first upgrade did.....

and what if the guy decides to reequip it?

Remember people will probably be giddy at first just checking out the cool RPG engine...
