Problem with spell animations for a spell based off of forked lightning

alright, in my map, there's a hero that has an ability called missile salvo that lauches multiple missiles at enemies and I used forked lightning as the base spell, and took out the lightning effect and added missile art siege engine barrage and missile arc 0.55 and missile speed 650. the missiles dont show up... I had the same problem when I made a similar spell for a ninja hero called flurry of shuriken. How do I make a missile instead of a lightning effect for forked lightning? or should I be using a different base spell? And if so, what?

Forked lightning does not use missle art. That's your problem.

Maby you could do this with triggers? Make a dummy spell, then when it's casted you create X dummy casters, then you make each of them cast a homing spell, or attack. Maby death coil could me something to use.

There's no spell that launches several missiles at different targets? ...I've seen it in so many other games :(

Barrage does, but that's passive. Also there's stampede, but that just sends numerous exploding projectiles towards the enemy.

If you list these places that you've seen it done, someone might have a better idea of how it was done in that particular instance. But creating model-less dummy units to do stuff, I think, is a pretty common and very useful thing to do.

You could always just use triggers to make this.. .make a unit with no size in-game that can passthrough units and have it use your missile model. Very-high miovement speed too, then just tell it to fly at randomly picked units nearby the hero. should work.

Try Fan of Knives? you wouldn't be able to choose which direction you cast it, but you can edit its model, units affected and damage to make it seem like a missile salvo, albeit a 360 degree one.

There is an ability called ray of disruption, it is chain dispelling but uses a missile, probably you can make it do damage
