I just installed a new hard drive about a week ago, damn viruses. Lost all my maps. Good thing I uploaded this sucker to the internet. Anyway, I downloaded my map and I've been working on it again. Not as frustrating now that the doodads height won't be reset. Here's a screen of what I'm doing. ![]() |

neato, have you considered working your way UP the trees towards the canopy? |

Or maybe a 100% treehouse. a house which is in a tree, and you need to climb a ladder to get onto it. wait i have a picture of one of my half-finished terrains which involve a ladder... if you do it that way it looks great (at least i think). I have pics with ladders Here Mozared |

The tree vilage is back! :D :D :D will you be entering the NE town comp with it? |

Maybe I'll try entering. But no assurances. Mozared, I know about the ladders. If you looked in my old thread, you'll see that I did ladders for this thing too. I think I was the first one to use em, but you never know. Never saw them before that. Thanks anyway. I will incorporate both ladders and stairs. |

I think now that everyone is doing a tree village it's value of how cool it looks goes dont abit. Now I would be imporessed if you would create a village in the trees that is walkable in game. |

Yeah, I agree with you, but as far as I know it is hardly possible.. :( |
| 04-19-2004, 03:26 PM | #9 |
I think it's possible. All you need to do is make your unit a flying type unit but flying height = the ground. Then you put airpathing blockers all around the parts u want to be unwalkable. Then u have a custom doodad be a flyable unit and just have it when ur unit walks on it. You lose control of everything and you watch as you elevator and you unit get lifted up into the trees. Then you create air pathing blockers around the elevator. |

1) units cannot walk on doodads, the only way to do this is to make all sorts of small bridges (which would be a good idea if it worked anyway) 2) so you want a doodad which you stand on, and then elevates? dream on 3) if flying height is the ground then you will not (without special and numerous triggers) ever can make it walking in the treehouse. thats what invisble platfororms are for. the only problem is that lack of multiple leval pathing |

Yes and to solve this you can use the thing i just suggested: make small multiple brigdes. only downside to this is that each time they go up one level it looks REALLY akward, like they suddenly float a bit and then "float" on the next platform... Mozared |

If I remember correctly, making a unit etheral, could enable him to walk through doodads, but still this is confusing to me.. *shrugs* |
