• Scatter your buildings, dont make them all strait together.
• For elven villages, add many tree's. Alot of tree's. Once again, scatter them, dont allign.
• Dont have it flat only land, make it bumpy, and rough in some places.
• Use your imagination - I can provide more later, just woke up.

I will provide pics later, sorry.

wood dosnt look so good elven. and as the NE dont realy have cities, thats a no go ares (howver, if you wish to make a gaint city out of the anciants models, id be very impressed) so id sugest trying a high elf city, muroc lover os currently makeing on, and you can see what hes done, careful and imagaintive use of culumbs and arches are essentail. there are a lot of useful things you can get in the essentail terrain DLs thread. such as table no legs, and the half arch oinkerwinkle made for me. if you do attempt a high elf city, then i have one map, that is not a city, but has soem architecture i spent some time on, and im fairly happy with the results, that you may want to look at

I don't think using others ideas is a very good tool for learning to terrain, if u give it time, u can make your own.

Tutorials aren't used for learning people my idea's, but to teach them the basics of something; if your talking about my tutorial.

Why would that be directed at you? I clearly directed it to the guy who started the forum. BTW I'm not a fan of those tuturials, they're really limited. Terraining is not limited... They're a million different ways to create one thing.

Why it would be directed at me? well i suggest that you use the "quote" function if you reply to something like 5 posts back. that's more clear, thank you. BTW what's "limited" about my tutorials? i've made only 2, rest are just tips and have nothing to do with terraining. my waterfall just shows the basic way to make a normal waterfall, which many noobs can't so i decided to help them out. and my city shows (once again) just the basics of building a city, ofcourse you can go any way with that.

But your not listening, your 'basic' way is probably one out of a thousand different ways to make the waterfall, and if you try to go any more 'basic' you'll end up with something any noob terrainer would already know.

All fine but this is the most basic way, also the way blizzard used. and as far as i can think of it's just 1 of the 2 or 3 different ways. unless you count doodad placing, but that would be stupid.

An idea i often use when making a map...

I try to look at other people map, blizzard or people here... and try to find "what makes this maps look good"

Try making something easy and simple at first... making a "huge and really cool city" right now would almost be impossible if you do not have any experience.
