Guest | Hi there, I'm new to the whole skinning idea. Actually I've never done it before but I really want to give it a try. With that in mind I would really appreciate any help that anyone could give me to get myself started. What tools do I need? What do I do? How do I do it. Thanks - Mystus |

Guest | Hey thanks guys! Its great to be a part of the community. I've been reading up on skinning now for a while, thought I'd start off small and get better. I got photoshop and I downloaded the necessary tools from the site (such as WinMPQ and W3CViewer etc.) but I am having a problem importing my new skins without overriding andy old skins. For example, I have reskinned the ArthasWithSword.mpx using the Arthas.blp file found in the w3 mpq file. it looks fine (how I wanted it to) and now I want to import it as a totally new model? How do I do this? Also, if I import my new skin as a texture which would overright an old texture would that physically override my old texture and change throughout the game wherever I use that character? Or would it just be for that map only? Thanks for your help!! - Mystus |

"sigh" ok.. well.. generally we skin TO overide the same model. There are alternate unit to get away with this (Fel Grunt for grunt etc.) but usually we just overide. to find a way 2 have moth, look in the tourturials for the: "2 skins on the same model!" thread... should show you what to do... Oh! and you should start small.. just make custom swords and stuff and recolor faces etc untill you can do better things... Check out the skinning challene thread like i said for some kool insights and techniqes etc. a good thing to do.... -Garith |
