After the sheeps (or maybe before) I'm thinking about doing a little farming map. The main idea would be to buy livestock, grow crops, and sell it for profit. But those ideas themselves aren't enough, so I'd like to geather some more ideas. I was thinking that maybe you need to raise livestock before you can actually sell them, and other thingsthat would need time to happen. Anyways, ideas please! |

Hey i like the idea ;) Look if you get some useful stuff here: Get some milk from cows and eggs from chikens ;) Guard your sheeps from wolfs attacks and your chickens from fox night attacks. Put some special climatic events like hailstorms that destroy half of your harvest or good spring season that makes your harvest grow double. Get some dung from your horses and cows to manure your harvest ;) Choose different plants to grow. Some give less income but are more resistant to bad weather while some fragile plants can be sold for much gold. Maybe cook some receipts using your farm production and sell them for highest prices. Grandma's Pies and Seasoned Hams for example ;) Trade resources with other farmers or try to poison their water supply or kill their sheep guard dogs with poisoned food letting wolfs attack them. |

Make aliens that steal your cows. But seriously, unless there are unique challenges, it'll probably turn out kinda... boring. Maybe you can make periodic natural disasters which have different effects like flood and drought., and artifical competition from other "farmers". |

The ability to ransack other players' farms. And of course the ability to defend yourself. |

The farmers should use their classical weapons: Fork or Salt Shotgun :D Maybe they can use some traps and fences to defend their fields from wild animals and maybe other farmers ;) |

Make roaming animals that randomly attack player and computer farms. and the packs grow over time if left unchecked. |

Guest | since its a farm game the main goal would be to harvest crops and things like that, try not to make the game to combat oriented or it will become less of a "grow stuff/manage farm" game and more of a farmer vs farmer type. maybe you could make it hard to have lots of gaurds/soldiers by making them cost alot of food and gold. Or you could make it so the farmer is the only one who could fight so he has to gaurd everything. This seems like the kind of game that would be very laidback and relaxing (to me) so you might want to eliminate all player vs player conflict. One thing you could do is have a lot of general crops and livestock that can be grown almost anywhere, and then have "special" crops and livestock that are very valuable/useful and can only be grown in certain areas. for example you might be able to grow somthing like sugarcane or have llamas or somthing weird like that in only some areas of the map, like sugarcane in particularly dry part of the map and llamas in whatever climate llamas live in. I like your idea, and goodluck with your map |

Thanks for the replies :) I espially like your ideas Bibendus, thanks for the help *gives rep* Right now I'm making a layout for the farm, you will have a few fields for growing crops, a pasture for lives stock, your house, chicken coop, etc. Since my other project is kinda dead, I may start to gather a small team for this, if people like it :D You will be able to grow a variety of different crops, and purchase livestock, but I'm having trouble finding some good models, any links/ideas? Here's some of the livestock I'l include: Cows- Produce milk, beef Pigs- Produce pork Sheeps- Produce wool Rabbits- Hmm, can be sold once rasised :) Goats- Produce goat milk Horse- Breed em' and Race em'! Vegetables are limitless, so I won't bother naming them off. Right now I've gotten the Barn working, whenever you enter it it becomes transparent, and when you leave (still need to get that to work), it goes back to normal. I just dug out my old NP magazine that has a 13 page review of Harvest Moon, which has a concept similar to this. I'm going to send you a PM logik if your still interessted, and I may start a thread in Team Gathering soon. Thanks for the support guys :) |
