Well we have all seen the cliché formats for AoS’s like ToB, DotA, etc etc. I’m curious as to other people’s ideas of different structures for an AoS and its corridors. Feel free to whip out MSPaint, Phtoshop, Flash, or even a pen and paper and jot down a simple idea. Attached is the kind of thing I am looking for (Of course, this one is ToB). The theme is not important, just come up with some generic AoS composition ideas. Only requirements really are that there are TWO main bases, twelve players in total, and a clear division of sides between the two factions. Thanks for any ideas! |

Just cuz I felt like it. Gray = claimable. Now that I look at it again, pretty generic, but whatever. Edit: This amused me: Quote:
Yes, I am easily amused... |

Ok here we go for my old MTG Aos map. 3 teams, each line represents a path that would spawn a differnet unit ![]() As you can see, there was alot of zig zagging :-) |

Here's my contribution, a very simple and elegant design: Base A ---------- Base B Allright, that's way too fundemental for anyone to claim as their own invention... so, it's kind of surprising we don't see such design more. I can only think of one project. |

Haha Anitarf :P Simple but not so interesting to terrain and lacks a certain flair. Fulla, I mentioned that I only want two main bases in this case, not three. |

How about an open composition? A field of battle rather than lanes. That would either require more player involvment in troop management, or an advanced AI/scripted behaviour, but that has the downside of players no longer leading the game, but having to follow. |

That has been used in a very cliché Star Wars AoS map. Does not really work well because the units tend to get in the way all the time. |

That would be hawt, it would turn into a giant battle for what? nothing basically. Just heroes cavorting randomly through a field of battle lacking completely in intelligent design, I love it. |

When I used the phrases like "open composition" and "field of battle", I in no way meant "a blank, flat 128x128 map", but rather a map with important chokepoints and control positions, but placed in a more open pattern, not just the usual "accesible from 2 paths, one leads to one base and the other to the other". A criss-cross pattern of lanes rather than just 3-5 paralel ones. |
