Background story info

I've had a few complaints/requests for more story info. Not everyone has time to read every story detail, so I thought this thread might be useful. If you don't understand some story related parts of an RP, then post here and ask. This can mean one of two things:

- general story information, not specific to the RP. E.g. you may want to ask why the scarlet crusade formed, or what it is.

- story information specific RP, this usually pertains to the plot of the RP or the history of a certain char. e.g. you may ask what's so important about Vigo's trident, or why someone's character hates another.

Tell me if it's a good idea, and I'll post some terms for the 2 RPs soon.

Scarlet Crusade: Major faction in Lordaeron, consisting entirely of humans. Whilst thier sole goal is to eliminate the undead, they consider any that do not support thier cause as either carrying the plague or sympathizing with the dead. Thier strongholds include: Stratholme, Tyr's hand and Hearthglen. It is commonly known that they are under the control of Balthazar who somehow or another (even though we all saw it on TFT) escaped death at the hands of the Dark Lady. For more info go here: http://www.wowwiki.com/Scarlet_Crusade

Argent Dawn: A faction mainly located in the plaguelands. They see no difference between races, they simply fight to eradicate evil (a.k.a. the scourge). They are brave non-corrupted individuals, quite the opposite of the more than slightly crazed Scarlet Crusade.

Light Hope's Chapel: Main base of the Argent Dawn in the Plaguelands.

Blades of Light: Herod's (champion of the Scarlet Crusade) warcry

Ancestral Light (existent only in erth's RP "A bulls place in the world" ) a.k.a we made this up, but based on lore and stuff. - The ancestral light is the belief taught by Kam Lightrune of the Lightrune tribe, it is not a religion (the religion of the Earthmother still takes predominance) but a belief on how to best utilize your gifts. The ancestral light is not a new source of energy, it is a new way of approaching the spirits. Where practicioners of shamanism usually draw power from a nearby elemental force, the practicioners of the ancestral light draw they're power from the ancestors watching over them, and the holy light they emit. This light is a form of life force: it has nothing to do with the deeds an ancestor might have done in its life. For an ancestor to grant his power to your bidding, though, they have to stand by your actions and believe in you, be this good or evil. Therefore, frequent meditation and communication with the ancestral beings is nescesary to sustain and increase power along this path. Communication in this context is more meant as an exchange of feelings and essence, reather then an actual communication. Though sometimes the Ancestors might say actual things through visions.

Lightrune tribe (existent only in erth's RP "A bulls place in the world" ) a.k.a we made this up, but based on lore and stuff. - A mixed "tribe" made of a variety of races. Mainly that of tauren and human. No gnomes, trolls or undead in the lightrune tribe. Lead by Kam lightrune the tribe of about 35, seeks to hone thier powers of the Ancestral Light through constant meditation and practice. They also seek to spread the word of the Lightrune tribe and to expand the number of vindicators (see vindicators). Eventually it is hoped that they will be able to set up other tribes elsewhere to spread the word. They are officially sided with the horde, though they will aid all sides that fight on the side of good.

Vindicators (existent only in erth's RP "A bulls place in the world" ) a.k.a we made this up, but based on lore and stuff.: Vindicators are members of the Lightrune tribe much like Paladins were members of the silver hand. (see lightrune tribe)
Vindicators are similar to paladins, they use melee combat but thier weapon of choice is a staff, usually heavily enchanted to be able to take as much damage as metal war hammers. They usually wield simple shirts and pants in the colours of the earth, along with one lose belt holding various pouches. Similiarily to Paladins they use a magical force in battle to aid thier melee attacks. Yet here they are somewhat similar to rune masters as well, thier Ancestral Magic is more focussed on hurting others and healing yourself as opposed to healing others and yourself, though the average Vindicator usually has a handful of healing spells as well. In battle they call upon holy fire to incinerate thier enemies along with a variety of Ancestral light defensive and offensive spells, to compliment thier skill with the staff. As fierce warrriors those who have faced or met them in battle often recongnize them by the pale yellow glow of thier eyes and the holy fire that surrounds thier hands at nearly all times of a battle.

Something to start off I guess.

What are the Blades of Light?

I knew I heard it before, looked it up where I saw it and here it was: http://www.blizzard.com/inblizz/fana...ndex=195&Set=0

Is there something special about it in Warcraft or is it just a coincedence?

I'm sure the undead Argent Dawn in the Eastern Plaguelands would point out that they wish to eradicate the Scourge, rather than simply Undead generically. Either that, or the recruiting has gone a bit off...

The Dawn recruit everyone who wants to fight evil. The Scarlet Crusade consists purely humans, and find other races unpure and unworthy, and think the entire world around them is inflicted by the plague.
