ThemeCraft Main Discussin thread. -//-//- ThemeCraft1 Nomination thread. ThemeCraft1 Poll -//-//- What is Mythic? Mythic is something existing in myth. What was nominated? The Mythic theme was a culmination of ideas, including Guardians, Angels, Demons, Zombies, Greek Mythology, Nordic gods/legends. Cultural Mythologies? There are many, many different cultures and their mythos. Popular choices include Norse, Greek, Roman, Egyptian, Aztec, Chinese, Indian and Pagan. What are the common themes of Mythology? Polytheistic Creation Myth:In the beginning there was the void. Along with the void existed land of fog and ice in the north and the land of fire in the south. The void filled with both fire and ice, their meeting created a primeval giant. The giant beget many beings from essence splintering; titans, monsters, demons. The titan offspring slew their creator, forming earth and heaven from its bulk. In turn, the offspring of the titans, gods, rebelled against their fathers and inprisoned the titans. How can all this form a workable theme for Warcraft? Warcraft is heavily inspired by Norse mythology, and many of its races have distinct cultures that reflect those real of our world. Perhaps the mythology of Azeroth can be explored itself? There are a great many beings that could be created. Perhaps the Ancients can be brought to glory? A prehistoric Azeroth? The Pantheon vs the Old Gods? Sargeras' invasion of Azeroth, pitted against Cenarius and the Ancients? Let the brainstorming begin! |

I'll go ahead and post the obvious regarding Egyptian mythology. We should make models of the Great Pyramids and the Sphinx. I'd also love to see the titans from the Hercules movie (and related mythology). Those guys are awesome. |

k, here are some ideas. Norse Mythology Thor the viking thunder god, has a hammer that allways hits it's target, red beard, has carrige pulled by two goats in wich he rides over the clouds Odin/Wodan the upper god of the vikings, has one eye (can't remember wich eye he lost). has spear, two ravens wich he uses to spy on people on earth. Middle-Earth-Snake (I think that is it's name in englsih. Midgardsorm in Swedish) Giant aquatic snake that circles the earth biting it's own tail (yes, its'that long), was supposed to kill Thor when Ragnarök started Fenrirsulv (Swedish name) Giant wolf, was supposed to kill Odin when Ragnarök started actually I feel a bit like making a Thor model myself, aswell as the Middle-earth-snake Aztec Mythology Quetzal Qoatl Giant feathered serpent god (I had this idea long ago but never found a good base model or time to make it) West European Mythology Dragons No explantion needed Greek Mythology Hercules/Heracles Demi god, super strong Hydra of Lerna Giant serpent with nine heads, every time one head was severed more grew in it's place. Cyclops No explantion needed Hades God of the underworld Cerberus Three headed dog, guard of the underworld Boatsman The boatsman of the boat that goes over the river Stiks/River of Death I can't think of anything more right now. |

You mean lady Vash well, the only major differance I can think of is that Medusa has 2 arms, not 4. |

No, her actual hero type... Naga something-witch. And I think Medusa has more snakes, but they're both in the same vein. |

I heard there have been many pirates in the caribbean area back then. Someone should make a pirate model and flags and ships and all that. :) Err, now seriously, there's this story about Siegfried who took a bath in dragn blood and became invulnerable. I can't remember the details but maybe someone else knows more about it. |

that dragon bath thing is somehow similar to Achile's tale, as far as I can remember a leaf coverd a part of his body and got untouched by blood as Achile's heel was untouched by that madass water. |

Was he not dipped by his heel and whoever was dipping couldn't touch the water for some reason...? |
