A question about triggering

Is there a good, multi-instanceable way to replicate the Starcraft Protoss Carrier sort of stuff?

one very simple way is using locust swarm, if you don't want to cast it all the time, u can make an dummy unit to do it :)

Yes, but the units in the swarm are untargetable. Is it possible to make it so that they are destructable, and so that they can be aimed?

then remove the locust(Aloc or the untarggetable one) ability from the summoned unit/s and change thier classification to ward.

myself haven't try it but locust with no Aloc will create some bug/problems if im not wrong

AllStarZ : or you can try use indie summon here just massive number of it will have the carrier effect, just that they wont fly back to the carrier when there is no enemy around, and you cant order them to fucus fire (well it can be done, but will require some trigger of course)

I think someone did make a carrier ability, just can't remember who made it or where it can be found. :(

Project Revolution sunk alot of time and effort into this question, the answer is no. There isn't an easy multi-instancable way to do the Protoss Carrier system, if i recall they had to settle for a different way of doing it.

I think locust is the way to go, but if that doesn't cut it, I would give each small ship a one shot timer with a slightly random time. Give it a random move or attack order and then reset the timer with a new random time. Eventually have it go home. By tweaking the probability distributions you should be able to figure out something that looks good, or, if you're not doing something original, looks close to starcraft.
