Hi there,

I want to disclose the secret of animated skyboxes. http://wc3campaigns.net/showthread.php?t=80795
Just like this stuff. He don't wants to tell how he did that, but i'm shure we can do this aswell if we put our knowledge together. Just like jesus and his gang did.
Well... but anyway i experimented abit with that stuff, used the new BilzzImport from Profet and ripped out the generic sky box (can be found under the path: Environment\sky\sky\skyLight.mdx), changed the texture and reimportet the box using an own execution file with mpq (as you might know new fonts only work that way too). After i opened the editor and chosed the new sky i got the error message: "Environment\sky\sky\skyLight.mdl is not a binary model"
Wtf?
Well i attached the max file of the skybox and hope that some of you will help here. TDR, you said in the thread from Jumbo:Pie that you wanted to do some sky boxes, too. Well, heres your chacne :D!
But i'm glad for every help you can offer me.

Maybe some of you already tried the same?

I don't know what you're talking about with that mpq stuff. I just imported the skybox model and texture I made for it and I applied it via one of those environment triggers where you set the sky. It worked fine, as you can see in the attachment (but I miscalculated the relative position of the ground plane so I made the clouds too low...yeah).

As for an animated skybox...well just animate stuff in it (like the texture coordinates) and I guess it should work.

oh, and you didn't attach anything apparently.

Skybox is just a normal model, except the materials have a couple tags that put everything behind everything else... Occasionally something with PriorityPlanes, I assume they sort the order of materials within the 'box.
