The first project to be highlighted is World of Genesia, a single player RPG by Callahan.
Inspired by the map Legend of Magnador, it seeks to combine an enthralling story with enjoyable combat, while achieving the immersion of an RPG rarely managed in wc3.
You begin as Kaï, a Samurai trainee in the village of Numa. Though only a child, he will age as the story progresses. It is not intended to be a hard dangerous slog; indeed, should you die in normal combat, you will be resurrected at a stone, though in some important instances all may be lost if you die or fail.
CG: How did you come up with the idea for the project?
CH: I've been inspired by a map by Blueagle, Legend of Magnador, which is the most enjoyable map I've ever played for Wc3. And I wanted to make a singleplayer RPG as enjoyable as his one though I'm not as skilled as Blueagle. I'm also inspired by other game like Breath of Fire III & IV.
CG: How long have you been working on it for?
CH: When I started the project (February 2007) I worked on it several hours per day for 2 weeks to come up with a demo map. Now I'm working on it only during my freetime (weekend, holiday) due to school.
But unfortunately for the progress rate I'm focusing more on the art part like model edit and making custom resources which is the more fun part than the map itself.
CG: Is anyone else working on the project with you?
No, I prefer to work alone for the map developement so that I haven't any restriction and I think I'm the only one who know what I want. However I'm using some online resources and maybe some people will help me to rectify my bad English and maybe I could ask some punctual help.
CG: What things do you feel make your project stand out?
CH: First it takes place in another lore than wc3 one mostly made from scratch. It involves an elaborate storyline comparable to an actual RPG game and a lot of custom stuff (model, music etc...). And since it's a singleplayer map I've no limit however I'll try to keep the filesize reasonable.Though I'm using GUI I try to make an extensive gameplay with skill system, party manager, combat system.
But it would mainly stand out for it's storyline and the new lore I'm creating.
CG: Do you have any estimates on a release date?
CH: I hope I could release it at end 2007 or before.
