Is it possible to make a city in the sky? Well, I know it is, but is it possible without importing models and such? Would it look good if you used raised elevators? If not, would it be worth importing custom models to make it look good? |

you could always use alpha'd terrain to achieve the look... |

alpha (i think) are like insisible tiles, u can see the sky like if it wastn any tile in the ground. But never know how to make it. I prefer traditional WE =) |

I did not understand your above post, Hernang. It's funny reading it. No offense. Lol. |

It can be done with the traditional WE. Just only worked for me when I viewed the terrain in-game. Anyways, the invisible platforms allow units to walk on it. It's kind of like it is an invisible terrain height. If you don't know what fog is, look in the tutorials. To make a city in the sky, alphaed tiles are probably the best option, so you can put regular tiles to fill up the ground of the city. Probably should make some large rocks upside-down (to learn how to rotate doodads upside-down, hold shift and double click the roll value. This will let you insert a negative value. Set it to -3.14), so it looks like the island rose from the ground. |

you would have to reskin a tile to be just completely alpha'd out making it invisible. i cant find the alphad terrain i downloaded from tim. but its really easy to make. just get wc3 image extractor 2 go into terrain art - (your tileset here) - (whatever tile you want).blp and click save. save it as a tga and open it up in photoshop or in whatever art program you have. if you have none i would say just download a test version of photoshop cs2 than go to the alpha channel color it all black. save it as a .tga go back to the image extractor open it - save as .blp open WE import - put file path for that tile. save the map - close WE - open WE - there you go. |

http://wc3campaigns.net/showthread.php?t=80916 That is the kind of effect you can get with an alpha terrain. Here is the tile I used if you want it. |

I would think that would come out looking very cartoony though, and besides, Quote:

RDZ uses an alpha tile much like mine. the nice thing is it takes up somthing like 1k, so it's not big deal to import. Quote:
